About Adrian

I was born on 16 June 1932, one of four children brought up in Wem, Shropshire. Our parents and grandparents spent their lives their and in nearby villages to the south.

The Wem of my childhood, its streets and lanes, buildings, river, brooks and fields, is even now perfectly clear in my mind, as though learnt by heart like poetry.

I think we were fortunate to have been young there and at that time, despite the war, when we could walk about freely our complete and unconfusing small world.
